Quite a few things are genuinely coming together in World of Warships today, without us having to reheat old anniversary activities as fresh news.
The Public Test for Update 15.9 starts today, the return of the Three Kingdoms Era has brought a time-limited event back since yesterday, and there are also two current bonus codes worth claiming straight away before they disappear again.
There is no major new balance round or fresh test ship data at the moment, however. We are therefore focusing on what is actually playable, redeemable, or time-sensitive today.
Public Test 15.9 starts today
The first round of the Public Test for Update 15.9 begins today, September 17, at 14:00 UTC, or 16:00 CEST.
The test runs until September 22 and includes several topics that go beyond mere event decoration.
These include:
- Pacific Front
- the rework of the Ocean map with weather effects
- changes to matchmaking during low-population periods
- Black Friday content
- several Halloween Brawls
Ocean and the planned matchmaking adjustments are likely to be the more interesting points. Both are changes that sound relatively dry on paper but could make themselves much more clearly felt in an actual battle.
Even a short visit to the test server can be worthwhile. 100 Doubloons and 750 Coal are planned for the first login during a 15.9 PTS session.
Anyone using the Public Test for the very first time also receives:
- 250 Doubloons
- 2 More Coal containers
- 1 Tactical Special container
The missions across both test phases also offer a total of up to 8,500 Community Tokens, along with further resources.
For anyone already curious about 15.9, that provides at least a small material reason to do more than watch videos about it.
The Three Kingdoms Era is back
The Three Kingdoms Era event has also been running again since September 16.
The event remains available on EU until October 8, bringing back several familiar themed ships and Commanders.

In gameplay terms, however, this is not a new mode or mechanic. The event is primarily a returning collectors' and sales offer.
The particularly interesting point this time is that Zhuge Liang is now also included in the Three Kingdoms containers.
For standard containers, the published overall probability of receiving a ship is 0.3 percent.
For Premium containers, that probability rises to 2.5 percent.
That is exactly how it should be understood: the Premium containers are part of the paid event offer. This is not a free login bonus or a hidden giveaway.
Anyone specifically looking for one of the ships or a particular Commander still has some time until October 8. Anyone uninterested in the theme, on the other hand, is not missing a new core gameplay mechanic.
Two current bonus codes
There are also two current bonus codes that can be redeemed without much fuss.

What actually matters today
That leaves three points worth keeping an eye on today.
The Public Test 15.9 is interesting for players who want to try upcoming changes themselves and pick up a few test server rewards along the way.
Three Kingdoms mainly serves collectors and players specifically after the themed ships or Commanders.
And the two bonus codes are exactly the sort of small thing best redeemed immediately, rather than discovering three days later that some timer has already expired.
There is no major new round of balance changes or fresh test ship data today, however. And rather than turn an anniversary mission that has already been running for days into another headline, we would prefer to leave it where it belongs: in Port.
Conclusion
September 17 is not a major balance day in World of Warships, but it still offers some fairly useful practical opportunities.
From 16:00 CEST, Update 15.9 can be tried in the new PTS round, the Three Kingdoms Era remains open for collectors until October 8, and two bonus codes provide a few free extras on the side.
In gameplay terms, the PTS is clearly likely to be the most interesting part. Three Kingdoms is more for collectors, and the usual rule applies to the codes: redeem first, then decide whether you actually need the stuff.
