Not every improvement to Friendly Helpers appears as a new button or bot feature. Reliable operation also needs documentation that brings the different parts of the project together. That is why the Friendly Helpers project handbook has been established and expanded as operator documentation.
The project areas in one place
The handbook describes the central components of Friendly Helpers. These include the website and Discord bot, as well as crawlers, databases and sitemaps. It also covers website operations, protection against suspicious access and automated monitoring.
This provides more than a note about a single component. The documentation presents the different areas as one connected project and makes clear which responsibilities need attention during day-to-day operation.
Guidance for ongoing operation
Important internal paths and quick commands have also been added. They help us check the documented areas efficiently in everyday operation and carry out recurring tasks in a reproducible way. Specific internal details naturally remain part of the operator documentation and are not reproduced in the public blog.
The expansion therefore connects the project overview with the practical guidance needed to look after it.
The traffic-light check as a regular routine
Another component is the daily traffic-light check. It has been established as a recurring operational routine and is now part of regular project checks.
The handbook consequently brings together three levels: it describes the project areas involved, collects the relevant operational guidance and records the regular checks. This work is less visible in everyday use than a new feature. But it ensures that the website, bot, data areas and monitoring are not simply understood separately, but brought together in shared operational documentation.
